In 2010, the International Media Award Frankfurt will be presented for the third time. This award is unique in its form. The media award recognizes creators of media content who demonstrate an exceptionally skillful and responsible journalistic form in the exercise of their profession.
Who is eligible to participate?
The International Media Award Frankfurt 2010 is intended for journalists who have published articles highlighting the City of Frankfurt am Main and/or the Rhine-Main region during the period from June 15, 2008 to June 15, 2010.
What are the categories of the International Media Award Frankfurt 2010?
- Print medium
- TV
- Radio
- Online medium
- Press photography
Books and songs will not be accepted.
What submission requirements must be met?
- The deadline for any submission is June 15, 2010.
- The application must include a copy of the applicant’s ID and a tabulated CV.
- In the case of items in languages other than German, a German or English translation must be provided.
- No participant may submit more than one item.
- If multiple authors submit serial work, all authors of the series must submit the application forms jointly. The jury reserves the right to nominate both a complete series and individual items.
- The items will not be returned.
- The decisions of the jury are definite.
- The right to pursue legal action is excluded.
In what form must the items be submitted?
- Print media: Original and a photocopy, additionally as PDF (as CD or via e-mail)
- All other genres of media: CD/DVD including proof of publication
Please bear in mind that the submissions can only be accepted in the standard formats (TV: Beta, DVD; radio: CD, AIFF, WAV, mp3; press photographs: jpg).
Who sponsors the award and what prize levels are awarded?
The International Media Prize Frankfurt is endowed by Frankfurter PresseClub e.V. This award has been made possible through the sponsorship of Eurohypo AG and Messe Frankfurt GmbH. The idea of the award is supported by Frankfurt-based print media, TV and radio broadcasters as well as news agencies.
A total of 10,000 euros will be awarded.
Award levels:
- 1st prize 5,000 euros
- 2nd prize 3,000 euros
- 3rd prize 2,000 euros
- Up-and-coming journalist award: A journey for journalistic research
In the event of multiple winners within any given category, the prize money will be distributed equally among the individual winners; the decision of the jury shall be definite. In the TV category, the award can be presented to the entire team.
